What is a Taxable Event?
A taxable event is any transaction that could result in owing the IRS, including big purchases, loans, stocks, gambling winnings, retirement, starting a business, marriage, divorce, returning to school, virtual currency, raises/promotions, changing jobs, gaining/losing dependents.

  • Frequently check tax withholdings to protect against having too little tax withheld.

Visit the Withholdings Estimator with your most current pay stub(s) after any taxable event (or at least quarterly).
